Hugh Dillon MVB, MRCVS, CertESM
After qualifying from UCD Hugh worked both in Ireland and England. He joined Troytown Equine Hospital in 1997. He has a specialist qualification in Equine Stud Medicine and has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating wind conditions. Hugh has competed at 3 star level in eventing and held an amateur jockey license.
He was extensively involved in the relaxation of European rules on drug availability to treat horses not intended for food consumption.
Cormac Feeney MVB, MRCVS, CertES(Soft Tissue)
Cormac qualified from UCD in 2003. Having completed his internship, he progressed to Senior Assistant at Troytown Equine Hospital. He completed his Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Surgical Examinations in Equine Soft Tissue Surgery in 2011. Cormac became a partner in 2012.
Bridget McGing MVB, MRCVS
Bridget qualified from UCD in 1984, and after a period in practice, she joined the Irish National Stud in 1986 as Resident Vet, a position she held until joining Grey Abbey in 2005. During this time she specialised in mare fertility, stud management and foal medicine. Bridget also has extensive teaching experience and an all consuming interest in sport horse breeding and eventing.
Michael Sadlier, MVB, MRCVS, CertESM, CertES(Orth), MACVSc
Michael qualified from UCD in1983. He spent time traveling the world ending up in Australia working as an equine vet in Perth. He returned to the UK in 1995 and bought a practice in Surrey before returning to Ireland in 2003 as a partner in Troytown. He is certified in Equine Orthapaedics, Equine Stud Medicine and Equine Surgery.
Warren Schofield MA, Vet MB, CertES(Soft Tissue), MRCVS, Dip ECVS
Warren qualified from Cambridge in 1992. Following a few years in general practice, Warren joined UCD as a resident in surgery, where he gained further qualifications and progressed to lecturer in large animal surgery. In 2000 he became a partner in Troytown. His main interests are soft tissue and orthapaedic surgery, lameness problems, MRI and bone scanning.
Paul Traynor MVB, MRCVS
Paul qualified from UCD in 1982. He worked in both mixed and equine practice and then Paul spent 4 years in equine practice on the Curragh, followed by 3 years running the racing yard and stud farm for the King of Saudi Arabia. Returning to Ireland in 1991, Paul set up Grey Abbey with John Stafford. His special interests are in reproduction and lameness.
Celia Marr BVMS, MVM, PhD, DEIM, DipECEIM, MRCVS
Professor Celia Marr is a member of the Troytown Grey Abbey hospital team acting as a specialist consultant. As well as visiting the hospital regularly from her base in Newmarket. She is always available for consultation by phone or internet. Celia is a member of the team at Rossdale and Partners in Newmarket and is editor in chief of the Equine Veterinary Journal, the pre-eminent equine veterinary publication in the world. She is an RCVS and European Specialist in Equine Internal Medicine and Honorary Professor at the Glasgow University Veterinary School, with particular clinical interests in cardiology, medical imaging and intensive care. She has published research papers and educational material relating to a wide range of medical disorders of the horse. She has previously worked at veterinary schools in Glasgow, Pennsylvania USA, Cambridge and London and has also worked in racehorse practice in Lambourn.
It is a privilege for our hospital to be able to avail of her expertise especially for heart problems and specialist medical issues.
